A fun fact about Joe is that while he and Mary do not have any pets of their own, they are frequently “adopted” by their neighbor’s cats who spend time hanging out with them in their home.

Paul Wayne Eyre
August 16, 1952 – July 7, 2025
Paul Eyre, age 72, passed into Jesus’ peace and rest on July 7, 2025, surrounded by his wife and daughter. A mover and doer at heart, Paul’s life was full of adventure and service. His journey began in “Southy” (South Boston, MA) with his Italian relatives, who strongly influenced his lifelong love for cooking and eating great pasta. He then traveled the globe, with stops in Germany, Japan, and many U.S. states- including California where he met Vicki, before settling in North Carolina. He loved mountain ranges, outdoor sports, travel, USC Trojans college football, the Boston Red Sox, and his grand dog Zeus. As a three-time cancer survivor, Paul was especially proud to have received a cancer-free diagnosis just weeks before his passing — a victory that brought him great joy.
Paul was one of the founding members of what is today, Murphy Matza Wealth Management. He moved from Raleigh to New Bern in 2005 and faithfully served his clients up until his passing.
As good an advisor and businessman as he was, Paul was an even better man. He was a devout Christian, loving husband, caring father, and devoted friend to so many.
We are all better people for having known him!
